The surviving FreeChina.net issue Free China Movement Update, Vol. 1, No. 3 is dated July 18, 1998. It asks supporters to respond to arrests connected with attempts to organize the China Democracy Party, promotes a proposed congressional appeal, and describes cooperation between dissidents in mainland China and the recently formed Free China Movement coalition.
The issue includes a model letter addressed to members of Congress and a list of organizations represented by, or described as connected with, the Free China Movement Executive Committee. Those organizational claims are primary-source evidence of how the movement described itself at the time; they are not automatically treated as independent proof of membership without additional corroboration.
