A surviving FreeChina.net file preserves a letter inviting Wei Jingsheng to attend and participate in the Free China Movement Unity Conference. The letter is signed by Shengde Lian in the role of Unity Conference coordinator and discusses movement unity, democratic operating methods, self-criticism and the desire for experienced democratic leadership.
This invitation is distinct from the separate recovered letter inviting Wei to join the Free China Movement Foundation Board. The existence of either invitation does not by itself establish acceptance, attendance or subsequent office-holding.
