Fung Wai-kong is a former senior editorial writer and managing editor of Apple Daily’s English edition and is currently imprisoned in Hong Kong.

CPJ reports that Fung was sentenced on February 9, 2026 to 10 years for conspiracy to collude with foreign forces after pleading guilty in 2022. CPJ says he was imprisoned again on July 21, 2021 and has remained behind bars since then. CPJ also reports that he has lodged an appeal against his sentence.
