Eddie Chu Hoi-dick (朱凱廸) — Democracy Activist and Former Hong Kong 47 Political Prisoner

Eddie Chu Hoi-dick (朱凱廸) is a Hong Kong democracy activist, former legislator and founder of Local Action and a former Hong Kong 47 political prisoner. He was released in January 2026 after completing his sentence.

Hong Kong 47 case

An older Hong Kong Watch prisoner profile listed Chu in jail during his sentence. He was sentenced to 4 years 5 months for conspiracy to commit subversion under the National Security Law arising from the July 2020 democratic primary. Later reporting records his release from Stanley Prison in January 2026.

Earlier proceedings
