Gordon Ng Ching-hang (吳政亨) — Hong Kong 47 Political Prisoner

Gordon Ng Ching-hang (吳政亨) is a Hong Kong pro-democracy activist and the only nonpartisan defendant in the Hong Kong 47 case.

Arrest and charge

Ng was arrested on January 6, 2021 for his role in promoting and organising the July 2020 unofficial democratic primary and was formally charged on February 28, 2021 with conspiracy to commit subversion.

Sentence

On November 19, 2024, Ng was sentenced to 7 years 3 months.

Appeal and current status

The Court of Appeal rejected his appeal on February 23, 2026. In August 2026, the Court of Appeal granted a certificate allowing him and other defendants to seek leave for a final appeal on points of law. Ng remains classified as currently imprisoned; no release date is inferred from sentence arithmetic.
