Tat Cheng Tat-hung (鄭達鴻) is a former Eastern District Councillor and former Civic Party member.

Arrest and charge

Cheng was arrested on January 6, 2021 for participation in the July 2020 unofficial democratic primary and was formally charged on February 28, 2021 with conspiracy to commit subversion.

Trial and sentence

Cheng contested the charge and testified during the Hong Kong 47 trial. He was convicted and on November 19, 2024 was sentenced to 6 years 6 months.

Appeal and current status

Cheng remained part of the appellate group whose convictions and sentences were upheld in February 2026, and later received a certificate enabling an application for final appeal on points of law. He remains classified as currently imprisoned; no release date is inferred from sentence arithmetic.
