Case record

Tang was arrested on September 8, 2021. In March 2023 he was sentenced to four and a half months for failing to comply with a police information request under implementation rules associated with the National Security Law. He completed the sentence. On March 6, 2025 the Court of Final Appeal unanimously quashed the conviction, holding that the prosecution had not proved the Alliance was in fact a foreign agent and that redacted evidence had undermined a fair trial.

Evidence and provenance

This record separates present imprisonment from historical detention, bail, completed sentences and overturned convictions. It does not infer a release date from sentence arithmetic.
