Zeng Ning / 曾宁
Classification: China Democracy Party organizer
Geographic context: Guizhou, mainland China
Period: 1998
Profile
Zeng Ning is a Guizhou democracy activist documented in the 1998 effort to organize and register the China Democracy Party. Contemporaneous reporting by the Irish Times states that Zeng Ning and Wei Dengzhong applied in October 1998 to establish a Guizhou branch of the CDP.
Radio Free Asia separately identified Zeng as a Guizhou dissident and interviewed him in connection with the national preparatory registration statement involving representatives from multiple regions.
Evidence and source controls
The Guizhou branch-organizing and registration role is independently corroborated. The evidence does not yet establish an exact formal office or national preparatory title, so those details remain dependent on the original registration and roster documents.
No sufficiently reliable detention chronology has been closed for Zeng in this research pass. References to detention in later crackdown lists are therefore not converted into established custody facts without independent corroboration.
Primary-source gaps
Priority records include the original Guizhou CDP registration application and branch documents; the original national preparatory statement and roster; any police or detention records; and later branch-governance material.
