Wei Dengzhong / 韦登忠
Classification: China Democracy Party organizer and dissident
Geographic context: Guizhou, mainland China
Period: 1998–2000s
Profile
Wei Dengzhong is a Guizhou democracy activist documented in the 1998 effort to establish a China Democracy Party branch in the province. Human Rights Watch records that Wei and Zeng Ning submitted the Guizhou CDP preparatory-committee registration application on October 21, 1998. Contemporaneous Irish Times reporting independently described the same Guizhou branch-registration effort.
Later public writings and petitions under Wei’s exact name preserve continuity with Guizhou democracy activism, while a later CDP archival reproduction lists 韦登忠 among Guizhou national-preparatory coordination contacts.
Evidence and source controls
The Guizhou CDP registration and organizing role is independently corroborated. The exact national representative or coordination title remains dependent on the original national roster and branch records.
No custody chronology is independently closed here. A later source-authored biography claims a 1993 sentence for counterrevolutionary incitement, but that claim is retained only as a research lead until original or independent legal evidence is recovered.
Primary-source gaps
Priority records include the original October 21, 1998 Guizhou registration application and branch roster; the original national preparatory roster; identity and biographical records; any legal record underlying the reported 1993 case; and police or custody records.
