Wang Hongxue / 王洪学
Classification: Labor and democracy activist; China Democracy Party organizer
Geographic context: Anhui, mainland China
Period: 1998–2000s
Profile
Wang Hongxue is an Anhui labor and democracy activist associated with the 1998 China Democracy Party organizing effort. Radio Free Asia reporting identified him as a Bengbu labor-movement figure who faced official pressure, including a threat of psychiatric confinement. Later CDP archival material describes him as an Anhui democracy activist involved in organizing the provincial CDP branch, and subsequent reporting places him in continuing democracy advocacy.
Evidence and source controls
Anhui CDP participation is independently supported, while the precise founder, responsible-person, or branch-office wording remains tied to source-specific accounts until original 1998 branch records are recovered.
Several repression episodes must remain separate: a May 29, 1998 detention; a threat of psychiatric confinement that was not carried out after family resistance; and a separate brief detention in 1999 associated with CDP activity. This profile does not imply that Wang was psychiatrically hospitalized.
Primary-source gaps
Priority records include original 1998 Anhui CDP founding or registration records; the original national roster; police records concerning the 1999 detention and psychiatric-confinement threat; labor-movement records; and later branch-governance documents.
