Zhang Hanjiang / 张汉江

Classification: China Democracy Party Hubei leader; democracy activist.

Independent contemporaneous Radio Free Asia reporting identifies Zhang Hanjiang as a Wuhan China Democracy Party activist summoned by police on February 24, 1999 during suppression of a planned human-rights seminar. A reproduced 2001 Wuhan court judgment in Lü Xinhua’s case identifies Zhang as first vice-chair of the former Hubei CDP branch. A later reproduction of the February 6, 1999 United Headquarters notice lists him on both the headquarters committee and executive committee.

Custody and organization record

The February 24, 1999 police summons or detention is independently reported; AFP-derived reporting says he was released after about one day. No later prison sentence has been established in the current source closure.

Evidence controls

The original Hubei branch appointment and charter, the February 6 United Headquarters notice and meeting record, the February 24 police record, and authenticated source exhibits from the 2001 Lü Xinhua case remain primary targets. Same-name records from an unrelated 1993 Republican Party context are not merged without identity proof.

Custody status: FORMER — RELEASED after a short 1999 police detention according to contemporary reporting; no later sentence established.
