Historical recovery status: Verified Contemporary Reporting / Original FCM web statement still sought.
Contemporary Reuters and AFP reporting documents Free China Movement involvement in the December 2000 campaign concerning Zhang Hongbao’s detention in Guam. Reuters quoted Timothy Cooper as international director of the Free China Movement while he was in Guam. AFP reported that Free China Movement representatives had traveled to Guam, met with a congressional office, and were advocating Zhang’s release.
The reports also preserve the existence of a movement statement calling for Zhang’s release during his hunger strike. The exact FreeChina.net version of that statement has not yet been independently recovered, so this archive page summarizes only the verified contemporary record and does not recreate the missing original statement.
