He Bing / 何兵
Identity guard: Chongqing veteran democracy activist; not the unrelated Beijing law professor of the same name.
Classification: Democracy Wall veteran and China Democracy Party activist
Geographic context: Chongqing, mainland China
Period: Democracy Wall era through later rights activism
Profile
He Bing is a veteran Chongqing democracy activist whose identity must be kept distinct from the later Beijing law professor with the same Chinese name. A 1998 Beijing Spring/Xu Wenli appeal identifies He as a veteran participant in the Chongqing Democracy Wall movement. Later Radio Free Asia reporting independently documents a Chongqing democracy activist of the same identity continuing rights activity.
Later China Democracy Party archival material lists 何兵 among Chongqing contacts associated with national preparatory coordination in 1998. That roster evidence supports organizational continuity but does not by itself establish a precise formal office.
Evidence and source controls
The veteran Chongqing dissident identity is materially supported across sources. The exact 1998 CDP branch or representative title remains dependent on original branch and roster documentation.
Later reporting documents police interference and detention in connection with Chongqing activism, but the exact 1998–1999 custody chronology is not sufficiently closed to state a continuous detention or sentence.
Primary-source gaps
Priority records include original Chongqing Democracy Wall materials; original 1998 CDP Chongqing branch and national roster records; police records from the 1998–1999 period; and biographical documentation that further protects against same-name contamination.
