Historical recovery status: Verbatim Archive Recovery source located on the February 1, 2001 FreeChina.net homepage.
The surviving FreeChina.net homepage reported that a sister of Lian Shengde was detained on December 19 at Shuangliu International Airport before an intended flight to Hong Kong. The page said she was attempting to travel to the United States and attributed further details about her detention, seized belongings, and family travel restrictions to the Free China Movement and Lian.
The historical page included attributed statements from Timothy Cooper, Richard Long, and Shengde Lian. Because this is an organizational primary source, its allegations about official conduct are preserved as claims made at the time and require independent corroboration where possible.
