Retrospective account
American Federation of Teachers, American Educator — Spring 1999. “Ten Years After: Some Unsung Heroes of the Struggle” contains a detailed account of Mo’s teaching career in Shaoyang, her participation in the 1989 movement, detention and imprisonment, post-release pressures, departure through Hong Kong, and asylum in Sweden. The article draws in part on Mo’s own memoir.

The core imprisonment and exile chronology is supported across independent human-rights and retrospective sources. Exact arrest, trial and release dates remain unresolved. Later residence or activity should not be inferred from older Sweden-based records.
