Case record
Chan Kin-man was convicted in the Umbrella Nine public-nuisance case arising from peaceful 2014 democracy protests. On April 24, 2019 he received a 16-month prison term. Amnesty International described him and the other jailed defendants as prisoners of conscience and called for their release. Later reporting records his release in 2020.
Evidence and provenance
This archive separates present custody from historical arrest, conviction, suspended sentence, fine, release or appeal status. It does not project release dates from sentence arithmetic and does not convert an administrative or ordinary criminal conviction into a National Security Law conviction unless the record supports that characterization.
