Historical document record — October 30, 1997.
This archival entry preserves a contemporaneous press release issued by the Party for Freedom & Democracy in China (PFDC) during Jiang Zemin’s 1997 visit to the United States. The release announced an assembly and protest and called for the release of political prisoners, naming Hu Shigen, Wei Jingsheng, Wang Dan and Liu Xiaobo among the cases highlighted.
The document is preserved as evidence of overseas Chinese democracy-movement organizing and public advocacy in the late 1990s. It is linked to a related PFDC media-distribution batch and other records from the same protest campaign.
The archival scan contains historical transmission information that is not necessary for public interpretation. A contact-suppressed public scan derivative will be attached only after the archival privacy and version review is complete. The source record remains preserved in the Free China Movement archive.
