Chen Renlin

Chen Renlin (陈仁林) is reported to be a Falun Gong practitioner from Changzhou, Jiangsu Province, a retired railway bureau engineer who was seized by police in 2019 and sentenced to seven years in prison in 2022.

According to a July 2023 case notice from the World Organization to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong (WOIPFG), Chen, described as 86 years old at the time, was detained by police on August 25, 2019, and his home was ransacked; officers confiscated Falun Gong books, a laptop computer, and a printer. The notice states that the Tianning District branch of the Changzhou Public Security Bureau’s domestic security (国保) brigade, together with the district procuratorate and court, pursued the case against him, and that he was sentenced in early January 2022 to seven years’ imprisonment with a fine of 40,000 yuan on the charge of “sabotaging the implementation of laws” (破坏法律实施罪), a charge routinely applied to Falun Gong practitioners. The same notice states that Chen was subsequently transferred to Suzhou Prison in Jiangsu Province.

The rights-defense roster reproduced on this site (Rights Defense Network / 维权网, Issue 131, dated August 31, 2026) lists “Chen Renlin” among 1,638 reported current-custody cases. The identification of the roster entry with the Changzhou practitioner is probable but not independently verified: the roster itself supplies no Chinese characters, case number, or sentence details.
