Chen Yizi was a prominent Chinese reform-policy researcher and institutional organizer of the 1980s, best known for directing the Institute for Reform of the Economic System and working in reform networks associated with Zhao Ziyang. During the 1989 crisis he supported public statements opposing violent repression, including the “three institutes and one association” six-point statement. After June 4 he escaped China and continued research and democracy-related work abroad. Claims about his exact advisory authority, escape network, overseas organizational offices and other consequential roles are recorded only at the level supported by dated sources and are not expanded into unverified operational-command claims.
