- 2018 leadership roster: Wang Juntao (board chair), Hu Ping (academic committee chair), Su Xiaokang (advisory committee chair)

- 2025 research completeness: Substantial, with governance and impact gaps noted below
2025 activities and outputs
The organization’s principal documented 2025 activity was the continuing China Newsletter (Dialogue China Briefing), an English and Traditional-Chinese publication distributed through Mailchimp and archived on the organization’s website. The 2025 run began with issue #167 on January 1 and continued through the year. Approximately 22–24 issues were identified in the research record; the exact final 2025 issue number remains unresolved.
No Dialogue China-hosted 2025 conferences, petitions, policy submissions, or advocacy campaigns were located on the organization’s own site during the research pass. This is a negative finding about the available evidence, not proof that no other activity occurred.
Mission coverage
The 2025 publication program clearly covered the organization’s analysis and public-discussion function. The broader founding mission—developing concrete transition policies and institutions and convening dialogue among different political forces—was not independently documented as a 2025 output in the reviewed evidence.
Observable outcomes and impact
No 2025 instance was found in which Dialogue China’s work could be shown to have changed a policy, law, or individual case outcome. Publication activity and organizational continuity are therefore recorded as outputs, not as demonstrated policy impact.
A 2025 Brussels Institute for Geopolitics interview independently identified Wang Dan as director of Dialogue China and asked about the organization’s continuing activity. Separate external-validation research found a limited 2025 third-party footprint and no high-confidence evidence that a specific 2025 Dialogue China output directly produced a downstream policy result. Chronology and institutional contact are not treated as causation.
Governance and transparency
The reviewed 2025 package did not locate current board minutes, bylaws, staffing disclosures, funding disclosures, or financial statements on the organization’s own site. The 2018 leadership structure remained the last documented public roster in that package. The absence of public governance information is not treated as evidence of poor governance.
Identity and disambiguation
This organization is not China Dialogue / 中外对话, the UK-based climate and environment publication. It is also distinct from other organizations associated with Wang Dan. A 2025 interview biography also conflated Wang Dan with a different person named Dan Wang who has been affiliated with the Hoover Institution; the interview itself remains usable for identifying Wang Dan as Dialogue China’s director, but that Hoover affiliation is not attributed to him here.
Research assessment
2025 evidence coverage: SUBSTANTIAL. The organization’s identity, founding, mission, and 2025 newsletter program are documented. Remaining gaps include the exact final 2025 newsletter issue, a complete 2025 event calendar, current governance documentation, finances, and stronger independent evidence of downstream impact.
