Historical website recovery
The historical web reconstruction will treat the former sites as source collections rather than simply redirecting readers to a dead domain. Recovery is being organized into: organizational statements; June Fourth vigil materials; annual reports and financial/work reports; newsletters; museum and exhibition materials; campaign and event pages; leadership and committee records; press releases; photographs and audiovisual records; and linked historical documents.
Surviving related archive
June 4 Memory & Human Rights Museum / 六四記憶・人權博物館 preserves substantial material originally collected or supported by the Alliance, including publications, images, event records and 1989-related documentation. The museum later operated independently of the Alliance; materials recovered from it are therefore cited as preserved copies, not presented as a current Alliance website.
Organization chronology
- May 21, 1989: organization formed in Hong Kong during mass public support for the 1989 democracy movement.
- 1990 onward: organized annual June Fourth candlelight vigils in Victoria Park and maintained documentation, education and remembrance work.
- 2020–2021: public commemorations and organizational activity came under mounting restrictions and legal pressure.
- September 25, 2021: members voted to disband the organization.
Statements and public positions
Recovery of attributable statements, declarations, open letters, vigil appeals and responses to political-prisoner and June Fourth cases is underway. Each item will be dated and labeled as an organizational primary source, archived copy, or later reproduction.
Media and historical reporting
Independent reporting and retrospective histories are kept separate from the Alliance’s own publications. This section will index major reporting on the organization’s founding, Victoria Park vigils, museum work, dissolution, and the subsequent legal cases involving former leaders.
Related people and organizations
Related FreeChina.live records include founders, former chairs, vice-chairs, standing-committee members, June Fourth organizers, associated museum records and Hong Kong democracy organizations. Cross-links will be expanded as source-controlled profiles are completed.
Source and recovery standards
Recovered pages are not treated as current organizational statements. Each preserved item should identify its original publication date, original publisher, surviving copy or archive location, recovery date, and whether the text is complete, partial or reconstructed. See Research Methodology, Corrections and Version History and Sources & Attribution.
Legacy Site Structure Replica — reconstructed navigation of the surviving Hong Kong Alliance WordPress archive, including Prisoners of Conscience, Background & Status, Alliance Articles, and Video Clips.
