Guo Feixiong is the pen name of Yang Maodong, a Chinese rights activist associated with legal and civil-society campaigns including the 2005 Taishi village dispute in Guangdong. He has experienced repeated detention and imprisonment. A U.S. Department of State statement reported that he was sentenced to eight years in prison on May 11, 2023 and that U.S. diplomats were prevented from attending the trial.
