Zhang Jiankang (张鉴康) is a Xi’an dissident and human-rights lawyer associated with rights-defense cases, Charter 08, and June Fourth accountability advocacy.
Historical and later reporting documents his detention during President Bill Clinton’s 1998 visit to Xi’an, later rights-defense legal work, professional retaliation, travel restrictions, and repeated police controls around politically sensitive anniversaries. These episodes are documented separately and are not treated as one continuous period of custody.
