Research series: Free China Research & Archives · Research Methodology · Sources & Attribution
A three-paper research series on Chinese institutional history, the relationship between public authority and individual rights, and comparative constitutional design. Historical findings, scholarly interpretation, comparative inference, and institutional proposals are identified separately.
Research Papers
- Paper I — State Extraction, Personal Obligation and the Boundaries of Rights in Chinese History
- Paper II — From Subject to Citizen: Chinese Institutional Traditions and Modern Constitutional Liberty
- Paper III — Constitutional Design and the Boundaries of Public Power
- Companion Archive — China’s Tradition of Freedom, 1949–Present
Research method
The series distinguishes primary sources, formal rules, administrative practice, empirical consequences, scholarly interpretation, comparative inference, and normative proposal. Ancient institutions are not treated as modern constitutional systems by analogy alone, and contemporary institutional models are compared without ranking political actors or parties.
Cross-index: Paper III is also linked from Third Republic Governance Blueprints because it addresses institutional design.
