Wang Jinbo / 王金波

Wang Jinbo / 王金波

Classification: Democracy activist; China Democracy Party participant; former political prisoner.

Wang Jinbo was a Shandong democracy activist associated with China Democracy Party activity and political writing on the Internet. Contemporary reporting does not resolve his formal CDP membership uniformly: some sources described him as a member, while contemporaneous Radio Free Asia reporting recorded his father denying formal membership and Zhou Jianhe describing his connection as peripheral. Free China therefore records participation while preserving the membership dispute.

Political activity and imprisonment

Source-controlled research records Wang’s arrest on May 9, 2001. He was sentenced on December 13, 2001 to four years in prison for political Internet writings. Amnesty International, the Committee to Protect Journalists, Reporters Without Borders and Radio Free Asia form the independent media and rights baseline for the case. His release was reported in May 2005; the exact release day and appeal disposition remain primary-record research targets.

Evidence controls

The original 1998–1999 participation or membership records, the 2001 arrest, indictment and judgment, the appeal record, and the exact May 2005 release record remain acquisition targets. Later organizational labels should not erase the contemporaneous disagreement over formal membership.

Custody status: FORMER — RELEASED. Arrested May 9, 2001; sentenced December 13, 2001 to four years; release reported May 2005.

This profile distinguishes established facts, contemporaneous reporting, and unresolved primary-record questions.
