Profile status: Source-attributed canonical profile; primary-document enrichment remains open.

Zhou Jianhe (周建和) is a Shanghai democracy activist whose documented activity spans the Democracy Wall period and the 1998 China Democracy Party (CDP) registration effort.

1998 Shanghai CDP activity

Human Rights Watch identifies Zhou as a shipyard worker with earlier Democracy Wall involvement and documents the September 1998 Shanghai CDP registration effort. Taiwan’s Mainland Affairs Council separately records Zhou, Yao Zhenxian and Han Lifa in Shanghai preparatory activity and reports Zhou’s approximately three-hour police detention on September 17, 1998. Radio Free Asia later interviewed Zhou in Washington in June 2000 as a Shanghai CDP member participating in a Tiananmen-anniversary hunger strike.

Evidence status

The Shanghai CDP role and the September 1998 detention episode are supported by independent sources. Original registration papers, police records and records clarifying later immigration history remain open research targets.
