Ren Qiuguang / 任秋光

Ren Qiuguang / 任秋光 is a long-term Wuhan democracy activist whose documented public activity includes participation in the 1998 Hubei China Democracy Party registration effort.

Democracy activity

Cross-source research supports Ren’s participation in the Hubei registration effort. The available evidence supports describing him as a participant in that preparatory effort, but does not yet establish a more specific formal committee office. Later assistance to Qin Yongmin should not be used to infer a secretary or chair title.

Political repression

Human-rights reporting describes a 1983 two-year reeducation-through-labor episode and multiple reported involuntary psychiatric confinements across later decades, including episodes associated with 1989, 1994, 1998 China Democracy Party activity, 2005 labor-rights reporting, and 2012 activism. The precise legal or medical authorization and duration of each episode remain dependent on primary records.

These psychiatric-confinement accounts are presented as source-attributed reports. They should not be treated as medical diagnoses or as proof that the confinements had a lawful medical basis.

Evidence status

The current source baseline includes an independent Taiwan/Hubei chronology, Civil Rights & Livelihood Watch interviews and reports, and later China Democracy Party organizational history. Important primary-source gaps include the September 1998 Hubei registration application, the seven-person preparatory roster, the 1983 RTL decision and release record, and psychiatric admission or commitment records for the reported 1989, 1994, 1998, 2005, and 2012 episodes.

Research note

This profile is source-bounded. It does not infer an exact formal party title, medical diagnosis, or legal basis for psychiatric confinement where the underlying primary record has not been recovered.
