Canonical ID: DISS-REN-WANDING
Profile status: Source-supported canonical profile; continuing archival enrichment.
Overview
Ren Wanding (任畹町) is a veteran of China’s Democracy Wall movement and a human-rights and democracy activist. His later public activity included work associated with the China Democracy Party.
Democracy Wall and rights advocacy
Free China Movement archival research identifies Ren with the Democracy Wall period beginning in 1979 and with later human-rights organizing. Role descriptions are kept source-bounded so that distinct periods of activity are not collapsed into a single organization or office.
Political imprisonment
Ren was imprisoned in connection with the 1989 political crackdown and received a seven-year sentence. The current evidence baseline records his release in 1996. He is therefore classified here as a former political prisoner, not as currently imprisoned.
Research and media archive
The dedicated Ren Wanding / 任畹町 Media Profile & Archive maintains the evidence and media archive for this identity.
Source note: This profile preserves distinctions among Democracy Wall activity, the 1989 case, later human-rights work, and China Democracy Party activity, and does not infer present custody from historical sentencing.
