Zhou Min / 周敏 — Media Profile & Archive

This archive preserves the source record for the canonical Zhou Min profile and keeps the prisoner-list evidence distinct from later reconstructions of his Changsha worker-organizing role.

Prisoner documentation

Chinese Human Rights Defenders, The Legacy of Tiananmen (2009), and related HRIC-derived Hunan documentation. The prisoner-list lineage records Zhou Min as a Changsha figure sentenced to four years’ imprisonment. The same documentation lineage places him at Chishan Prison. Because these materials share source ancestry, they should not be described as independent corroborating investigations.

Changsha worker movement

Later movement histories identify Zhou as a vice-chairman of the Changsha Workers’ Autonomous Federation and a member of its seven-person joint committee. They also report his participation in the June 8 memorial rally and in continued organizing after June 4. These role details remain source-attributed.

Six-person case

Secondary accounts describe a post-June-19 six-person case involving Zhou Min, Zhang Jie, Liu Wei, Tan Minqi, Chen Shuai, and Li Jie, using the historical charge label “counterrevolutionary group.” The reconstruction remains incomplete: Human Rights Watch records for people in the same circle contain differing terms or charge descriptions, and no original judgment for Zhou has been located.

Identity safeguards

Zhou Min must not be conflated with Zhou Yong or Zhou Yongjun. The available sources treat them as distinct people.

Open record gaps

Exact arrest, release and re-arrest dates, the original judgment, precise court and charge wording, post-release history, and present status remain unresolved. No release or current residence is inferred.
