Liu Xin / 刘新 — Media Profile & Archive
This archive preserves the evidence used for the canonical Liu Xin profile and the identity correction separating his case from Yao Guisheng.
Amnesty International record
Amnesty International, ASA 17/07/99 (May 1999), pp. 17–18. Amnesty documented Liu Xin as a Shaoyang worker sentenced to 15 years for arson in September 1989 by the Shaoyang City Intermediate People’s Court and held at Longxi Prison. The report listed an expected release in June 2004.
The expected release is a projected sentence endpoint, not evidence that release actually occurred. No later status is inferred.
Hunan case record
Hunan case documentation separately identifies Liu Xin in the Shaoyang arson case and is consistent with the 15-year term. The available account connects the case to matches supplied by Liu Xin that were used in burning a vehicle. Where the underlying judgment is unavailable, the description remains source-attributed.
Identity safeguard
The 15-year Shaoyang sentence should not be assigned to Yao Guisheng (姚贵生). Searches and the surviving Hunan materials reviewed did not establish a reliable 1989 record linking Yao to this sentence.
Open record gaps
The original judgment, confirmed release record, post-sentence biography, and current status remain unlocated.
