Yan Derong

Yan Derong (严德容) is a Falun Gong practitioner from Kunming City, Yunnan Province, China, reported by Rights Defense Network (维权网) as being in custody in its Issue 131 report dated August 31, 2026. Minghui.org, a Falun Gong-affiliated outlet, reported that in mid-December 2011, neighbors found the lights on in Ms. Yan’s home with no one answering the door or phone; the home was reportedly in disarray, with a printer and computer missing, and Minghui said she was ‘very likely’ arrested. No further details of that incident have been published. On July 18, 2017, Minghui reported that police arrested Ms. Yan at her home in Kunming, ransacked the home, and confiscated a computer and printer. Minghui’s sentencing records state that she was sentenced in December 2017 to five years in prison and fined 10,000 yuan; no court or charge is named in the published reports. In March 2026, Minghui reported that Ms. Yan, then described as around 65, was serving a five-and-a-half-year term in the Yunnan Province Second Women’s Prison, set to end in April 2029 — indicating a later re-sentencing for which no detailed public record has yet surfaced. The charge, court, and dates of that later case are not reported. Her status is reported via single-lineage sources; FreeChina has not independently verified the custody claims.
