Media Profile & Archive — Chen Yanqiu (陈艳秋). This archive preserves the source basis, identification method, and evidentiary limits behind the Person Profile. It supports Chen Yanqiu (陈艳秋).
Person profile
Chen Yanqiu (陈艳秋) — Falun Gong practitioner from the Chengde High-Tech Industrial Development Zone, Hebei Province; arrested July 12, 2024; tried three times at the Shuangqiao District Court; first-instance sentence 9 years (May 2025), reportedly reduced to 4 years on appeal; listed in the Issue 131 roster (August 31, 2026) “sentenced to 9 years” group.
Identification method
The roster’s English edition lists “Chen Yanqiu” with no Chinese characters. Two sources identify her:
- Positional alignment in the Issue 131 report’s own editions. The Chinese edition’s “判刑9年,48人” (sentenced to 9 years, 48 people) section lists 陈艳秋 in the position where the English edition lists “Chen Yanqiu” — 44th of 48, between 尹福英 and 彭立发. All forty-eight names align position-for-position between the two editions (verified by direct reading in prior research; the alignment method is documented in the M179 Chen Hongyuan research record). This positional identification is the basis for the Chinese characters from the roster itself.
- World Organization to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong (Chinese), case notice dated September 20, 2024, updated October 21, 2025 — names 陈艳秋, a female Falun Gong practitioner living in the Chengde High-Tech Industrial Development Zone, first sentenced to 9 years in May 2025 after three hearings — the same 9-year figure the roster assigns. Independent confirmation of the characters and the person.
The forms 陈燕秋 and 陈彦秋 are guesses and must not be used.
Source chronology
- July 12, 2024, ~7 a.m. — Arrested at home in the Chengde High-Tech Industrial Development Zone by officers from the Chengde Municipal PSB, the High-Tech Zone PSB, the Fengyingzi Township police station, and the Chengde County PSB; taken to the Chengde City Detention Center; 15,500 yuan in business cash seized. Source grading
- WOIPFG case notice (Chinese) — advocacy/investigative notice, single lineage; read via search index; publisher must click-verify. Provides the only case detail (dates, officials, hearings, sentence history). Grade: source-attributed, partially unverified. The retrial-reduction claim rests on this source alone; no date or document number is given.
- Issue 131 report (Chinese + English editions) — roster source; the only evidence for the 9-year group classification and the dated current-custody listing. Grade: listing evidence.
- Negative search results — bounded searches for 陈艳秋 across rights-defense reporting, news archives, and prisoner databases returned no additional independent lineage beyond the WOIPFG notice.
Conflicts and caveats
- Sentence conflict (unresolved). The Issue 131 roster (August 31, 2026) classifies her in the 9-year group; the WOIPFG notice (updated October 21, 2025) reports the second-instance reduction to 4 years. The roster may reflect the first-instance classification carried forward, or the reduction may be unconfirmed by the roster compiler. Both facts are presented; the profile does not pick one as the operative sentence.
- No charge text is quoted in the located sources; the case is framed by the reporting as Falun Gong persecution prosecution.
- Her current custody facility is not documented in any located source; nothing is asserted about where she is held.
- Present-day status beyond the dated roster listing (August 31, 2026) is not independently confirmed.
Evidentiary limits
No court judgment, official statement, or family testimony has been located; all case details come from the WOIPFG notice and are attributed as such. The second-instance reduction to 4 years is reported by that notice alone, without a date or case number — it should be treated as reported, not established. If a judgment or other document surfaces, the profile must be corrected.
