Pan Yanjun (潘艳军) is a Falun Gong practitioner from Nong’an County, Jilin Province, who has been repeatedly detained since 2000. Background
Pan lives in Nantaizi Village, Qingshan Township, Nong’an County. Her husband, Jiang Shujun, is also reported by Minghui to be a Falun Gong practitioner. Minghui has described repeated police harassment of the couple beginning in 1999 and 2000, including confiscation of identity cards and pressure to renounce their faith. Detention history
In July 2017, Pan was held for ten days at the Nong’an County Detention Center after filing a criminal complaint against former Chinese Communist Party head Jiang Zemin over the persecution of Falun Gong, according to Minghui. On April 24, 2020, she was arrested at home and released the same afternoon.
2023 arrest, trial, and sentencing
On March 2, 2023, officers from the Qingshan Township Police Station raided Pan’s childhood home in Nantaizi Village and then her residence in Nong’an County, arresting her. She was taken to the Nong’an County Detention Center the following day. Minghui reported that her case was submitted to the Nong’an County Procuratorate and then forwarded to the Dehui City Procuratorate.
On July 13, 2023, Pan was tried in the Dehui City Court; Minghui reported that her family was not informed of the trial. On August 18, 2023, she was sentenced to three years and six months in prison and fined 10,000 yuan. She appealed, and on November 3, 2023, she was informed that the Changchun City Intermediate Court had upheld the original verdict.
