Geng Yimin (耿宜敏) was the church committee director of the Funan County Christian Church, a government-sanctioned Three-Self congregation in Funan County, Anhui Province. ChinaAid reported that he was criminally detained on October 19, 2019, the day after authorities demolished the church’s 3,000-seat building during a worship service.
2019 demolition and detention
ChinaAid reported that the demolition occurred on October 18, 2019 and that the required legal documents had not been presented. The following day, Geng, Pastor Sun Yongyao and other church committee members were reportedly detained on suspicion of “gathering a crowd to disturb social order.” ChinaAid’s Chinese-language account identifies Geng as the church committee director (堂委会主任).
The Christian Post and International Christian Concern reported the same incident, largely relying on ChinaAid. ICC added that the church entrance had reportedly been closed for several days under a construction-safety pretext before the demolition.
Status and evidence limits
No conviction, sentence, release or transfer has been located in the public reporting reviewed for this profile. Rights Defense Network Issue 131, dated August 31, 2026, lists Geng among reported current-custody cases. Because no public post-2019 case record was found, that roster entry is presented as the source’s claim rather than independent confirmation of present detention.
