Gong Wenyi / 宫文义

Gong Wenyi (宫文义) is a Falun Gong practitioner from Harbin, Heilongjiang Province. Human-rights monitoring records report that he was secretly tried by the Daowai District Court on December 12, 2018, sentenced to nine years in prison, and transferred to Hulan Prison on January 28, 2019.

Arrest and sentence

Tenchu/CHRD prisoner data reports that Gong was arrested with twelve other practitioners in Daowai District on January 18, 2017. He was later allowed to return home on health grounds with his case separated from the others. The database reports that police rearrested him and searched his home on November 9, 2018, after which he was held in Harbin No. 1 Detention Center.

The same record reports a secret Daowai District Court trial on December 12, 2018 and a nine-year sentence, followed by transfer to Hulan Prison on January 28, 2019. The specific criminal charge is recorded as unknown.

Earlier history and status

Minghui’s victim archive, which uses the alternate written form 宫文艺 as well as 宫文义, reports earlier labor-camp detention and alleged abuse beginning in 2001. Those allegations remain source-attributed.

Rights Defense Network Issue 131, dated August 31, 2026, lists Gong among persons serving nine-year sentences. A prisoner database carries a May 8, 2027 release-date field, but that database date is not presented here as a confirmed future fact.
