Li Dongju (李冬菊) is a Falun Gong practitioner from the Jingcheng residential community in Daqing City, Heilongjiang Province. Monitoring records report that she was arrested in July 2022 and sentenced in December 2022 to five years and six months in prison.
2022 arrest and prosecution
Minghui and the CHRD Prisoners of Conscience database report that Li was arrested at home on July 12, 2022 by officers from the High-tech Zone Public Security Sub-bureau. The sources state that her case was transferred to prosecutors about a month later.
Trial and sentence
According to the same sources, Li and fellow practitioner Tang Zengye were tried by the Daqing Development Zone Court on December 4, 2022. On December 30, Li was sentenced to five years and six months in prison. A January 2023 report stated that both women appealed.
