Li Guo’ai (李国爱) is a Falun Gong practitioner from Qinhuangdao, Hebei Province. U.S. religious-freedom monitoring and Chinese rights-monitoring sources report that Li was detained in June 2017 and sentenced in January 2019 to ten years in prison.
2017 detention and prosecution
The U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom reports that Li was detained on June 9, 2017 in Shanhaiguan District with other Falun Gong practitioners. USCIRF reports that Li was later charged with “undermining law enforcement,” which it describes as related to the Article 300 offense concerning use of a “cult” organization to undermine implementation of the law. That characterization remains USCIRF’s report; no indictment or judgment text was located.
Sentence and appeal
USCIRF reports that the Changli County People’s Court sentenced Li on January 9, 2019 to ten years in prison and that the appeal was rejected on June 7, 2019. Its database lists Li’s status as “Not Released.”
Status and evidence limits
Rights Defense Network Issue 131 lists 李国爱 among reported current prisoners in its ten-year-sentence group as of August 31, 2026. No current prison facility, projected release date, or official PRC court document was located. Minghui’s 2018 English report refers to “Mr. Li Guo’ai,” while USCIRF identifies Li as female; that honorific/gender discrepancy remains unresolved and is not independently adjudicated here.
