Li Chenhui / 李琛慧

Li Chenhui (李琛慧) is the wife of Christian printer Chang Yuchun (常玉春) of Xi’an, Shaanxi Province. Rights-monitoring and religious-freedom reporting state that the couple were detained in July 2020 and each sentenced in August 2021 to seven years in prison for “illegal business operations” connected to printing Christian books.

2020 raid and detention

ChinaAid and Bitter Winter report that authorities raided the Shaanxi Guangyi Aisheng Printing Company on July 21, 2020 and seized more than 210,000 religious books. Li and her husband were detained the next day. Reporting states that the case initially involved a “subversion of state power” suspicion before authorities proceeded under an “illegal business operations” charge.

2021 sentence and appeal

On August 19, 2021, according to ChinaAid and related reporting, the Gaoling District Court sentenced Li and Chang to seven years in prison and fined each 250,000 yuan. Both appealed. The Xi’an Intermediate People’s Court upheld the judgments on November 15, 2021.

Prison and health reporting

Li is reported held at Shaanxi Women’s Prison, also described in some sources as Xi’an Women’s Prison. Family and advocacy sources reported recurring headaches, dizziness and fainting beginning in 2023 and stated that a promised CT scan had not occurred by March 2025. Those health claims remain family- and advocacy-sourced and are not independently verified.

Status and evidence limits

Rights Defense Network Issue 131 lists 李琛慧 among reported current prisoners in its seven-year-sentence group as of August 31, 2026. Multiple sources give September 1, 2027 as the term endpoint. The Chinese form 李琛慧 is used here; 李陈慧 appears as a documented variant in some reporting.
