Lin Hongjie (林洪杰) is a Falun Gong practitioner from Laizhou City, Shandong Province. He was reported sentenced by the Laizhou City Court on May 20, 2024 to eight years in prison and a 40,000-yuan fine in a seven-person case.
Falun Dafa Information Center reports that more than thirty officers took part in a May 8, 2023 raid on a private gathering place used by local Falun Gong practitioners. It states that Lin and several others were detained after gathering to study Falun Gong teachings and operate a site producing informational materials.
Minghui’s Chinese-language annual sentencing report lists seven defendants and their sentences, including 林洪杰 at eight years and a 40,000-yuan fine. Falun Dafa Information Center later highlighted Lin’s sentence in research on elderly practitioners.
Written testimony submitted for an October 2025 hearing of the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom also cited the Laizhou case and stated that Lin, then described as 73, received eight years and a 40,000-yuan fine. Another Falun Dafa Information Center report described him as 74 in 2025. Because of that one-year discrepancy, no exact birth year is asserted here.
Status: reported serving an eight-year sentence. No current prison location, current health information, or official court judgment was located.
