Li Shulian / 李树莲

Li Shulian (李树莲) is a retired lecturer from the Yan’an City Healthcare School in Shaanxi Province and a Falun Gong practitioner. Falun Gong-affiliated reporting states that she was taken from her home in January 2024 and later sentenced to six years in prison.

2019–2025 case

Minghui reports that Li was arrested on December 15, 2019 while distributing Falun Gong materials in Yulin and was held for about three months before being released on bail in critical condition.

On January 3, 2024, according to Minghui, police from Yulin and Yan’an removed Li from her home while she was bedridden. Her family reportedly received no updates until August 2025, when it learned through a notice that she had been admitted to Shaanxi Women’s Prison on July 21, 2025 to serve a six-year sentence.

Earlier reported history

Minghui and Clear Harmony describe repeated prior detention, including forced-labor terms and a prison term. They also allege mistreatment in custody. Those accounts remain explicitly source-attributed.

Status and evidence limits

Rights Defense Network Issue 131 lists 李树莲 among reported current prisoners in its six-year-sentence group as of August 31, 2026. The exact sentencing court, sentencing date and criminal charge are not established. Historical reporting about her husband Cao Huashan contains an unresolved contradiction and is not used to state his fate as fact.
