Li Wanbing (李万兵) is a Falun Gong practitioner from Tianjin and a former deputy director of the Binhai New Area Bureau of Statistics. Falun Gong-affiliated reporting states that he was arrested in late 2019 and sentenced in December 2020 to eight years in prison.
Earlier reported detention history
Minghui reports that Li began practicing Falun Gong in 1998 and was promoted in 1999 to deputy director of the Binhai New Area Bureau of Statistics. The same outlet reports that after he put up posters about the persecution of Falun Gong in 2000, he was sent to Shuangkou Forced Labor Camp for three years. A 2013 account alleges forced labor, prolonged standing punishment and delayed medical care during that term. Those claims remain source-attributed.
2019 arrest and 2020 sentence
Minghui reports that Li was arrested in late December 2019 after speaking to people about Falun Gong and was held at the Hangu Detention Center. In December 2020, according to the outlet and its later sentencing compilation, he was sentenced to eight years in prison.
2022 prison report
A July 23, 2022 Minghui report stated that Li was being held at Binhai Prison, had gone on a hunger strike and had been force-fed, and that his health was serious. The report also stated that his family had been unable to visit for more than a year and was later asked to pay medical bills. Those treatment and health claims have not been independently verified.
Status and evidence limits
No later case update was located in the prepared record. His most recent dated custody report is July 23, 2022. This profile therefore does not assert that he remained at Binhai Prison after that date and does not calculate or publish a release date.
