Luo Xizhen is a resident of Qinghe Town in Ji’an City, Jilin Province, documented by Falun Gong-affiliated outlets as a practitioner who was repeatedly detained, assigned to forced labor, and imprisoned between 2000 and 2014.
Background
Minghui reported that Luo lived in Renao Village, Qinghe Town, Ji’an City and began practicing Falun Gong in 1997.
Detentions and sentences
Minghui reports detention after a July 2000 trip to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong, another detention in October 2000, and a December 2002 arrest that led to a two-year reeducation-through-labor term at Heizuizi Women’s Forced Labor Camp in Changchun. The outlet alleges beatings, electric-baton shocks, sleep deprivation and force-feeding during that period; those claims have not been independently verified.
In April 2007, Luo was detained again while speaking to people about Falun Gong. Later Minghui reporting states that the Ji’an City Court sentenced her to three years in prison and that she was released on April 2, 2010. Sources differ slightly on whether the 2007 arrest occurred April 1–2 or April 3.
2014 arrest
Minghui reported that Luo was arrested again on June 26, 2014 after offering Shen Yun performance DVDs to a plainclothes officer. Her home was searched that evening. A later report stated that her case file was submitted to court on July 21, 2014 and described restrictions on her family’s ability to hire counsel.
Status and evidence limits
The most recent case-specific reporting located is from 2014. No verified later custody, release, death, or whereabouts record was found. Her current status is therefore unknown. No verified Chinese-character form of her name was located, so no characters are published here.
