2019 family case
Rights Defense Network reports that on August 15, 2019, Meng was detained in a coordinated operation together with six members of his extended family, including his father Meng Fanjun and other relatives connected to the Yu Jianli family case. The seven family members were later reported sentenced to terms of seven to seven and a half years; Meng Xiangqi and Fu Guihua received seven years and six months.

The same reporting states that five relatives with seven-year terms were released in August 2026, while Meng remained listed in custody as of August 31, 2026.
