Shaadaiti Bawudun / 沙阿呆提·巴吴顿

Shaadaiti Bawudun (沙阿呆提·巴吴顿), born in July 1956, is a Uyghur woman from Yining City, Ili Kazakh Autonomous Prefecture, Xinjiang. Rights Defense Network (维权网) reports that she worked at the Ili Hotel and was later sentenced to 18 years’ imprisonment.

According to a March 29, 2020 case briefing, Shaadaiti and her husband, Haimiti Abudureheman (海米提·阿不都热合曼), travelled to Turkey in 2014 and met their son, Togluk Haimiti (托格鲁克·海米提), who was living in Sweden after receiving political asylum. The briefing says that on January 27, 2017 the couple were taken to a local “political re-education center” in Yining.

The same source reports that Shaadaiti was formally arrested in January 2020 and sentenced by a Yining court to 18 years’ imprisonment on unspecified charges, with the term recorded as ending January 26, 2035. Her husband received the same sentence in the parallel case described in a January 2020 briefing.
