Liu Wei (刘伟) — Hanzhong

Liu Wei (刘伟) — Hanzhong is a Falun Gong practitioner from Hanzhong City, Shaanxi Province and a retired employee of the Hanzhong City Grain and Oil Machinery Factory.

Minghui reports that Liu was arrested in Xi’an on September 28, 2019 and held first at the Yanta District Detention Center and later at the Foping County Detention Center. In early November 2019, police reportedly brought him back to his Hanzhong home, searched it, and confiscated Falun Gong books and a printer.

When family members visited the Foping County Detention Center in May 2021, a guard told them that Liu had been sentenced to four years and was appealing. A later Minghui report states that after family members were finally able to visit Liu at Weinan Prison in 2023, they learned that the actual sentence was eight years. The later eight-year figure therefore supersedes the earlier four-year report.

Minghui also reports earlier detention: a two-year labor-camp term following a 2009 arrest and a four-year prison sentence after a 2013 arrest, with release in January 2017.

Rights Defense Network Issue 131, dated August 31, 2026, lists 刘伟(汉中) among current prisoners. This record is distinct from the separate Chengdu Liu Wei.

Status: reported in custody as of August 31, 2026. No sentencing court, trial date, conviction charge, or reliable release date was located.
