Liu Yanhua (刘艳华) is a Falun Gong practitioner from Cuiluan District, Yichun City, Heilongjiang Province.
Minghui reports repeated detention beginning in 2001, including a reeducation-through-labor term imposed after a July 23, 2008 arrest. Its 2011 account alleges beatings, suspension by restraints, prolonged restraint in an “iron chair,” and other mistreatment during that detention. Those claims remain attributed to Minghui and are not independently verified.
On May 17, 2013, according to Minghui, Liu and Wu Wenjin were arrested at Hongjiang Market in Yichun and held at the Yichun Detention Center. The outlet reports trials at the Yichun District Court on September 10 and October 22, 2013, during which lawyers alleged procedural obstruction.
Minghui reports that Liu and Wu were sentenced to ten years in prison in November 2013. Their lawyers appealed in December 2013, and Liu was transferred to Harbin Women’s Prison on March 19, 2014.
Status caveat: Rights Defense Network’s August 31, 2026 roster lists “Liu Yanhua” as in custody. However, no publicly available source located here confirms a new detention after the ten-year sentence imposed in 2013. The equation between that bare roster name and this Yichun practitioner is probable but was not positionally confirmed from the Chinese roster. Current custody is therefore not asserted as established fact.
