Sun Li (孙丽) is a Falun Gong practitioner from Jiamusi City, Heilongjiang Province. On the morning of December 20, 2009, local police seized her from her room on the fourth floor of the Yindu Hotel in Nancha District, Yichun City, where she was staying while running errands, according to Minghui.org.
Officers of the Nancha District Security Division, led by division head Qiao Hongtao, dragged her and two other people from the hotel to a waiting police car. Minghui reports that when she held onto the car door, officer Zhao Yuanxin knelt on her chest, nearly suffocating her. At the Nancha Security Division she was interrogated through the night; the source reports that Zhao Yuanxin handcuffed her behind her back, made her sit on an unheated concrete floor, beat her, deprived her of sleep, and threatened further punishment.
When five members of her family went looking for her, Minghui reports that police refused to explain the arrest and instead detained her brother, sister, pregnant sister-in-law, brother-in-law, and husband for five to ten days and fined each 500 yuan, deducted from confiscated cash without receipts.
