Sun Li — Media Archive

This archive preserves the documented media record for Sun Li (孙丽), a Falun Gong practitioner from Jiamusi, Heilongjiang, seized by police in Yichun City on December 20, 2009.

December 20, 2009 — detention

Minghui’s Chinese report states that Qiao Hongtao, head of the Nancha District Domestic Security Department, led plainclothes officers to the Yindu Hotel in Nancha District, Yichun City, and seized Sun Li and two others. It reports that officer Zhao Yuanxin knelt on her chest as she was forced into a police car.

December 20–21, 2009 — interrogation

Minghui reports that Sun was interrogated overnight at the Nancha Security Division, handcuffed behind her back, forced to sit on cold concrete, beaten, deprived of sleep, and threatened. These allegations are source-attributed and have not been independently verified.

Family detention

The same reporting says five family members who came looking for Sun were detained for five to ten days and fined 500 yuan each after police confiscated their belongings and cash.

Source provenance and conflicts

The record concerns one underlying incident reported in a Chinese Minghui original, an English syndication, and a later Minghui English account. The Chinese original says Sun had been seized six times since 1999; the English versions say five times. One source renders the Nancha police-department head’s name as “Li Xuemi” rather than Li Xuemin (李学民). No trial, sentence, labor-camp term, release, death, or post-2010 outcome was found. The sources are Falun Gong-affiliated and the allegations remain attributed.
