Sun Qin (孙琴) — Zhaodong Falun Gong Practitioner Serving 3 Years

Sun Qin (孙琴), a woman in her early sixties from Zhaodong City, Heilongjiang Province, was reported by Minghui.org to have been sentenced to three years in prison on November 28, 2023 for practicing Falun Gong. She was one of five people sentenced by the Anda City Court following a mass arrest in Zhaodong on September 4, 2023.

The 2023 mass arrest

On September 4, 2023, more than 50 residents of Zhaodong City were arrested in a single-day sweep for their shared faith in Falun Gong, according to Minghui. Sun Qin was among them.

Trial and sentencing

Sun was tried on November 20, 2023 and convicted eight days later. Minghui reports that the Anda City Court sentenced her to three years in prison. Her co-defendants received 8.5 years (Zhan Xiangjun), 4 years (Yuan Airong), 4.5 years (Yang Shujun), and 1 year (Xiong Qiliang).

Earlier record

A November 2020 Minghui report describes a 58-year-old Ms. Sun Qin of Zhaodong City arrested on November 8, 2020 and sent to the Suihua City Detention Center; a January 2021 report says she was formally arrested alongside Li Bairong. The age, city, and faith are compatible with the 2023 defendant, but the reports do not explicitly link the two records, so the earlier case is treated as probable but unconfirmed same-person evidence.

Status

Rights Defense Network Issue 131, dated August 31, 2026, lists 孙琴 in its three-year-sentence group. Her post-trial detention location and exact release date are not publicly documented and are not inferred here.
