Sun Shiwei (孙士伟) — Former Fine-Arts Teacher Serving 6.5 Years for Falun Gong

Sun Shiwei (孙士伟), a former fine-arts instructor at the Muleng City Teacher Training College in Heilongjiang Province, is serving a six-and-a-half-year prison sentence for practicing Falun Gong, according to Minghui.org. It is his second prison term; he previously served eight years and was later dismissed from his school.

First prison term

Minghui reports that Sun was arrested at home on September 23, 2005 by officers of the First Police Station of Muling City and later sentenced to eight years by the Muling Court. He served time in Mudanjiang and Jiamusi prisons and was released on September 22, 2013. Allegations of torture and other mistreatment during that term are source-attributed and have not been independently verified.

Second arrest and sentence

On April 24, 2020, Sun and his friend Gao Pengguang went to help fellow practitioner Cao Shufang install a broken window. Police arrested Sun, Gao Pengguang, and Gao Yongli. The Hailin City Procuratorate approved the arrests on May 27, 2020.

Minghui reports that on July 20, 2021 the Hailin City Court sentenced Sun and Gao Pengguang to six and a half years each, and Gao Yongli to six years and ten months. Their appeals were rejected by the Mudanjiang Intermediate Court on September 8, 2021. Sun was taken to Mudanjiang Prison on October 28, 2021 and transferred to Tailai Prison on December 29, 2021.

Status and evidence limits

The latest custody location found is Tailai Prison, based on reporting of the December 2021 transfer. Rights Defense Network Issue 131 dated August 31, 2026 lists 孙士伟 in its six-years-and-six-months sentence group. The exact release date is not asserted. Minghui sources disagree on whether the fine was 20,000 yuan or 10,000 yuan; that discrepancy remains unresolved.
